CANON INFORMATION

CHARACTER NAME: Aiko Kobayashi
CANON: Original
HISTORY: n/a

STRENGTHS:
ENCOURAGING: Aiko loves people, especially her friends. She knows what it's like to feel less than you actually are, so she doesn't want others to feel that way. If she knows someone's in a bad way, she'll do her best to encourage them--whether it's by bolstering them with encouraging words or bringing them their favorite food, taking them to a movie, or just listening to them. She can get a little loud and boisterous, but she means well, and wants to see people smile!

CARING: Aiko is earnest and passionate in the way she cares about people. With a couple of exceptions, she believes that honesty is usually the best way to go about something. She's easy to get along with, and that's because she genuinely cares about people! Even if it's just a classmate or an acquaintance, she exhibits compassion in the way she treats and interacts with people--she's genuine in everything she does, and her philosophy is built on "treat people the way you want to be treated."

ENTHUSIASTIC: Boy, is she. Aiko throws herself into everything she does with 100% passion and excitement. Every day is a great day, as far as Aiko is concerned, and she wants to make the best of her time in the world! Aiko is a lot of fun--she's basically an adrenaline junkie and she's always looking forward to the next adventure. Sometimes she even drags her friends into them... but of course, if they aren't having it, she does rein it in a little.
FLAWS:
NO CHILL: Unfortunately, sometimes Aiko doesn't know how to pull herself back. It's resulted in her getting herself into trouble; she's lucky she has insurance because she's broken several bones, both as a kid and when she's older. She can easily get in over her head, which results in her getting overwhelmed... and she kind of doesn't cope with that well, which leads to more freaking out. She has bad coping skills.

INTERNALIZES: Aiko... tends to keep things shut up tight. She doesn't want to burden people, after all. She wants to make people's lives brighter, and her dragging them down with her problems is something she very, very much does not want to do. It's a problem and she knows it, but she can't stop--Aiko thinks it's easier to keep things to herself instead of dwelling on them. She'd rather put forth a cheery, sunny front, but it definitely weighs on her. It's actually pretty hard to tell when she's going through some stuff, because she hides it VERY well. Even if someone calls her out, she doesn't relent.

INSECURE: Very insecure. It's the reason Aiko tries so hard to be supportive and enthusiastic--she doesn't believe she really has a lot going for her, so she wants to bolster the people she sees potential in. In a way, she's trying to compensate for her perceived personal failings by trying to lift up the people around her. Insecurity is a hell of a thing, and Aiko? Aiko doesn't want to drag people down by making them worry about her. Even the people closest around her, she kind of doesn't want to burden. Again, it's a bad habit and she knows it, but Aiko doesn't really have plans to stop. Oops.
CANON ABILITIES: None! She's just a squishy human.

AU INFORMATION

AU CHARACTER NAME: Aiko Kobayashi
AGE: 18
GRADE: Undergraduate
AU BACKSTORY:
- Aiko grew up with a warm family environment--her mother and father doted on her very much, and though her father worked a lot, they were generally very caring and tried their best to make a good life for Aiko.
- She grew up in Tokyo, Japan, and thrived on the Big City Life.
- Her father received a very good promotion when Aiko was around thirteen, which resulted in a move across the country. Aiko was upset, but she tried to hide that, because she knew it meant a lot and she didn't want to cause any distress.
- They moved to a smaller city, and Aiko sort of found it harder to fit in--most of the kids knew each other, and Aiko felt like an outsider. She did find a small group of friends, but she definitely struggled to find her place.
- When Aiko turned fourteen, her power manifested. She was reading up in a tree, lost her balance, and plummeted to the ground--but a pocket of air cushioned her fall. She was shocked, and she hid it from her parents as much as she could.
- They found out about her power when she accidentally fell, she tried to break her fall and instead released a gust of air from her hands, and the family cat went flying about five feet into the air. (The cat was fine.)
- Aiko kept the secret very well, and her parents were very understanding and actually proud.
- She finished high school, and afterward was recruited to Daybreak Academy. She very eagerly decided to go.
AU PERSONALITY DEVIATION: N/A

RACE: Human
SECRET SOCIETY: As a Candle, she was recruited to the Academy.

POWERS: Air manipulation. That is, she can't manipulate a person's air (even if she wanted to, she couldn't) but she can manipulate the air around herself and others. It's weaker when directed at other people, mostly because Aiko doesn't want to hurt anyone, but she could theoretically lift them off the ground with her powers. (As evidenced by the incident with her cat...) She can break her fall with a pocket of swirling air, and can boost her jumps with it. She can even float, if she keeps her concentration well... though that's much harder for her to do. The more Aiko uses her power, the more tired she gets; she can usually maintain her power for about five minutes before she crashes completely. She's working on it.

HOUSING: No preference

RP SAMPLE
2. WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO ACHIEVE IN THE FUTURE?
I want to be the type of person people can rely on! And having a few accomplishments doesn't sound too bad either!

4. WHAT IS ESSENTIAL FOR A SCHOOL TO OFFER TO ITS STUDENTS?
Support! If someone doesn't feel supported, then they can't do their best! We have to cheer each other on--that means you, too, teachers!

9. WHEN GIVEN FREE TIME, WHAT DO YOU DO WITH IT?
I like taking runs! It really gets me going, and after I finish a really good run, my head always feels clearer.

10. WHEN UNDER PRESSURE OF A TIGHT DEADLINE, HOW DO YOU RESPOND?
I try not to do that! Pressure isn't good for me, because it really throws me off my game, you know?

11. WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM YOUR PEERS?
Hm, well, I like to treat people with care and kindness! So I definitely expect the same thing back--it's only fair, you know?

12. WHEN WORKING IN A GROUP, HOW DO YOU ORGANIZE TO ACHIEVE YOUR ULTIMATE GOAL?
Divide and conquer! People should work on what they're best at, that way we can achieve the best outcome possible! It usually works for me, and everyone works better together that way.

13. DO YOU FEEL YOU CAN RELY ON YOUR PEERS, OR DO YOU FEEL YOU MUST EXCEL ON YOUR OWN?
I wouldn't be anywhere I am today without the people in my life! I really think everyone has goodness inside them, and sometimes, you need to believe in someone for them to really shine! People should support each other, especially if they're working toward the same goal.

14. IN THIS EVER-CHANGING WORLD, WHAT MOST EXCITES YOU ABOUT THE FUTURE?
Hmmm... there are lots of possibilities! I don't know if any one thing excites me the most, because endless possibilities are exciting themselves!

15. WHAT ABOUT THE FUTURE DO YOU FEAR THE MOST?
I guess... sometimes the future can be kind of uncertain. That totally freaks me out! But I always think there's a light at the end of the tunnel, so in the end, everything will be okay! Even if it takes some time.

16. WHAT MEMORIES DO YOU HOPE TO HOLD AT THE END OF YOUR JOURNEY?
Lots of adventures with people I care about! We can look back on them and think about how far we've come and how much we've accomplished.
